Davenport Speedway cancels races
DAVENPORT, Ia. (July 21, 2016) – Citing concern for drivers, crews, and fans, DRT TRAK Racing INC. had cancelled the racing program scheduled for tomorrow Friday, July 22nd, at the Davenport Speedway.
The following was posted on the track’s Facebook page:
Racing for Friday, July 22nd has been cancelled due to extreme weather conditions. We are concerned for the safety of our race fans, drivers, crews, and staff, as temps reach excessive highs.
Dangerous high temps and humidity are expected for tomorrow. The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning. We encourage everyone stay safe and please watch for any signs of heat stroke/exhaustion in yourself and others.
The next race at the Davenport Speedway will be the Street Stock Clash on Friday, August 12th. A $2,000 prize awaits the winner of the 50-lap main event. Weekly point races will be held in all other classes. Special guest class will be the Midwest Jalopies.
The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa. Pit gates will open next Friday at 4:30pm, the grandstand at 5:00pm, with hot laps at 6:15 and racing at 6:45pm.
